Afternoon coffee

Last time, you joined me for morning tea.  Now I'm no longer pregnant and have a newborn who has her days and nights mixed.  So now it's morning coffee, mid-morning coffee, occasionally afternoon coffee... you get the picture.

If you were here having a cup of coffee with me, you would be surrounded by a bustle of activity (once again, very different from last time).  My firstborn is the primary cause of that.  Right now, she's stomping around the house in her Diego light-up snow boots, watching Kai-Lan (basically the Chinese version of Dora the Explorer).  She makes quite the picture.  I'll be sure to get out my camera to capture it for potential future embarrassment (why do parents do that, anyway?).

My husband just got back from taking our newborn to the doctor for a check-up.  She gained half a pound last week!  So she's finally back up to her birth weight and doesn't have to go back for another check-up until she's two months old.  Hooray for normalcy!

If you were here having a cup of coffee with me, you would notice that I'm still in my pajamas.  I'm in my pajamas most of the day everyday, which is most likely the cause of my current cooped-up feeling.  I should probably try to get into a routine of my own (outside of the kids' feeding and sleeping routines) to start feeling a little more normal myself.  But knowing and doing are two completely different things, and when one is tired, changing out of pajamas just doesn't sound enticing at all.

If you were here, I would hand my newborn to you to see if you could get her to burp.  Because sometimes she's impossible to burp, like right now.  And of course she's sleeping.  Doesn't everyone sleep all day?

Half a pound..... WOW!!! I would say Genevieve is the official winner of our "Who Can Gain The Most Weight During Our Slumber Party Weekend?" contest!!! But heck... I never realized she ate THAT many cookies!!! ;-)

I would have had Dad drop me off, on his way to work this afternoon, so that I could have sipped coffee with you, Shishee.... if I knew Caroline wouldn't cry her little eyes out when Dad came to pick me back up again, to go home. Bailey's almost over her cold so I can have Big Sister over here again... to give everybody a lil change of scenery. Maybe then you & Pete can pack up Lil Pooper & make a trip to Target or something... or maybe out to eat. That will do a little bit for your cooped-up feeling. I remember it well. (((((()))))) You feel good so you're getting antsy... but not THAT good to be real active. You need just a "little something" to get out for a short while & come back home.

Maybe Pete can get the grill out & cook you guys some nice steaks, while you sit in a lawnchair in the backyard & watch Caroline swing. With Genevieve's tummy monitor in place, you could get Caroline's monitor out & put one of them near Genevieve & the other one outside by you.... and Genevieve would be quite safe in the family room there, with you folks just outside the door in the backyard. You'd hear the monitor if anything was amiss, via Caroline's monitor. Fresh air always lifts my spirits & makes me feel so much better. I bet it will you too.

I think I'm going to go brew a pot of coffee myself... and pretend we're together, having a cup!! :-)

XOXOXOXOXOXO

I'm happy we had the opportunity to share a pot of coffee this past weekend! I think that might possibly have been the first time we ever sat down and had a cup of coffee together (since I was anti-coffee for so long). It was really nice. :)

Good idea about the fresh air. It looks like it's nice today (cold, but hopefully the sun will warm things up a bit) so I think I'll spend some time with Caroline in the backyard. "Blow the stink off," right? :)

XOXOXO back!

*ha-ha* Absolutely... "blow the stink off".

:-DD

I think you're right, sis... that's the first time we've ever sat down & had a cup of coffee together. It's nice... still having "firsts" with my firstborn. :)
